The short version
We collect as little as we can. Reading the guidance on advances.rent asks nothing of you - no account, no sign-up, no personal details. The only thing we ever ask for is an email address, and only if you want a letting agent to come back to you after their survey. Everything else we gather is anonymous.
What we collect
Where a letting agent runs a short survey on advances.rent, your answers are stored without your name or any contact details - they are anonymous market signal. The survey ends with one optional field: if you choose to leave your email address so the agent can come back to you, it is stored with your answers and used for that purpose only. Leave it blank and your response stays anonymous. Beyond that, we collect no personal information from people reading the site.
Cookies and analytics
The public pages set no advertising or tracking cookies. We measure how the site performs using privacy-friendly analytics that do not use cookies and do not build a profile of you. A small number of essential cookies are used only when a member of our own team signs in to manage the site.
Who we share it with
We do not sell personal data. An email address you leave with a letting agent's survey is shared with that agent, so they can come back to you - nobody else. We use a small set of trusted suppliers to host and run the site, and they only handle data on our instructions. We may disclose information where the law requires it.
Your rights and how to reach us
Under UK data protection law you have rights over any personal data an organisation holds about you. Where you left an email address with a survey, we can find it and remove it on request. Where you did not, the answers we hold are anonymous and we cannot link them to you. Either way, email us at hello@advances.rent and we will help.
